Just be kind.

its not that hard. it’s a phrase i have been saying to myself for the past year because you never know what someone is going through. you never know if someone is having a bad day. you never know what someone is thinking about. okay so i asked some of my friends this question “What does being kind mean to you, what impact could it make on someone’s life, and how could you be kind to others(examples)?” and this is how they responded:

Friend 1:

“being kind means being kind no matter what and to everyone u meet. kindness is simple but can change someone’s whole mood or day.

kindness in the little ways or the big ways can impact your relationships w people and your overall mood. kindness is never wasted and it can be so encouraging.

you can do simple things like complementing people or spending time with them. being there for people in good and bad times is so important. it is kindness in the form of quality time.”

Friend 2:

“being kind to me means that no matter if you personally are sad or happy you are able to put on a smile and make other people feel loved and cared for. You go out of your way for someone and put smiles on other people’s faces. By being kind to others you can spark kindness in other people and make others alter they way they act towards others. You can turn someone’s not so good day into a good day simply by smiling at them. We can be kind to others by the little acts. We can buy a stranger coffee, pick up a napkin someone threw on the ground, text someone you haven’t talked to in a while, smile at the stranger, tip the waiter a little extra. Being kind comes easy through all the little things in life:):)”

Friend 3:

“to me, being kind is alot less complex than what we make it out to be. to be kind means going out of your way to make someone else feel better. kindness impacts lives by making people’s days a little brighter & it potentially could save the life of someone who once planned on ending their life. kindness calls you to simple smile at that girl in the hallway who gives you “dirty looks” everyday. kindness calls you to move away from the lunch table with all the cool kids & to go sit with the kid that everyone laughs at. kindness calls you to be respectful to that one teacher that may be a total mess, but isn’t receiving respect from any of your classmates. kindness calls you to step out of your own happy/comfy place at times in order to give someone else a happy/comfy place. kindness calls you to LOVE others well.”

Friend 4:

“Being kind to me means going out of your way no matter the situation and showing kindness through compliments. The impact it can make on people’s lives is insane. They say words don’t hurt you, but they do. And if words can hurt a lot, they can probably heal even better! I challenge myself to compliment someone every day!!!”

by doing this I have learned, people really do want to make a difference in a persons life and someone will always be there for you. this year i hope to be kind to everyone and i hope that if i have a problem someone will be kind to me. i have also learned that it’s a domino effect. if one person is kind they will most likely do something else kind. and thank you to anyone who has actually read this far!! wow ur a rockstar!!
